Pre-schoolers
For children whose age is 30 months and above; at our Brock Street House
We offer both full time & part time Preschool spaces.
Preschoolers
Using the Preschool Program Development Instrument (PPDI), developed by Kingston’s Child Care Network, and program planning based on the Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT) document, staff observe children individually and in group settings during all activities to assess levels of development (fine motor, gross motor, language, cognitive, spatial, and social/emotional) thus allowing staff to gear our program to the specific and individual needs of enrolled children.
Preschool Daily Schedule
7:30 a.m. – 8:25 a.m. | “Free Play” during arrival time. |
8:25 a.m. – 8:40 a.m. | “Tidy-up time” Children divide into their Groups for diapering or bathroom routine, hand-washing before snack. |
8:40 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. | Morning Snack (at least two food groups). |
9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. | Outdoor Group Game and Outdoor Play! (weather permitting). |
10:00 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. | Children come inside and get ready for morning activities. |
10:15 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. | Groups rotate through activities: -Circle (stories, songs, calendar, etc.) -Arts & Crafts/Cooking & Science -Music & Movement (dance, yoga, balancing, etc.) |
11:30 a.m. – 11:40 a.m. | Children tidy and wash hands for lunch. |
11:40 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. | Lunch time (All four food groups). |
12:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. | Children wash up, bathroom and prepare for Nap-time. |
12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. | Nap-time |
2:30 p.m. -2:45 p.m. | Sleeping children are gently awoken followed by bathroom routine. |
2:45 p.m. – 3:10 p.m. | Afternoon snack (at least two food groups). |
3:10 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. | Groups get ready for outdoor play (sunscreen or snowsuits). |
3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. | Outdoor Group Game and Outdoor Play! (weather permitting). |
4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. | Free play (inside or out) as parents arrive. |
